The learning journey continues! In an era shaped by technological advancements, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) stands tall as a transformative tool, offering invaluable insights and solutions to diverse global challenges. Recently, the Telematiques Global Ltd. Junior Team had the privilege of presenting at The UWI. The event was in collaboration with the Department of Geography, supporting their geography awareness week centred on the theme "power or place" and, by extension, supporting the worldwide GIS Day initiative ‘Celebrating the GIS Professional’. The event aimed at enlightening and engaging university students about the wonders of GIS technology and forging their GIS career paths. The journey towards a GIS career often begins with education. GIS, in its essence, is a powerful framework for gathering, analysing, and visualizing spatial data. Its applications span across a multitude of fields, from network design and implementation, urban planning, and environmental studies to disaster management and public health. Through real-world examples, our presenters were able to show their growth in using the technology and their transition from a learning environment to one of application in the world of work. They demonstrated revolutionized decision-making processes and the application of innovative solutions to complex spatial problems. Transitioning from a student to a GIS professional is a fulfilling journey that requires dedication, continuous learning, and a passion for leveraging spatial data. Remember, your journey is unique, and every step you take contributes to your growth and success in the fascinating world of geographic information systems. The engagement from the university students was exceptional. They actively participated, asking insightful questions. They were intrigued by the varying backgrounds and interests of the team and their journey to a shared career path. In an age where spatial data is increasingly crucial, events like this GIS Day presentation play a pivotal role in fostering awareness and knowledge among university students. Our gratitude extends to the junior team, attendees, and the Department of Geography for allowing us to partake in an event of resounding success.

Following a three-year hiatus due to the global disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, The UWI SPEC Half-Marathon is back! At Telematiques Global Limited, our commitment to social responsibility goes hand in hand with our dedication to making a tangible different in the cat communities we serve. Marathons are not new to the Telematiques team, and what better way to 'exercise' one of their core values: social responsibility? After all, the UWI is no stranger to the crew! They're all past students of the institution and understand the benefit the UWI Spec Half Marathon provides to the wider community through supporting various charities, such as the UWI endowment fund or the Trinidad and Tobago Cancer Society. However, this year in particular, cash prizes were awarded only to the top five finishers in the overall half marathon, which will in turn provide scholarships for student athletes. Encouraging our employees to participate was a key focus for us. We organised training sessions through participation in previous marathons, provided resources, and fostered a supportive environment to motivate everyone to join in. The team-building aspect was remarkable; the enthusiasm and dedication displayed by our employees in preparing for the marathon were truly inspiring. On race day, the vibrancy and spirit of the team - Taariq Ali, Tessa Wellington, and Keston Moses - at 5am were palpable. Clad in gear, our team brought incredible energy to the event. The camaraderie amongst our employees and the support extended to fellow participants exemplified the strength of teamwork. Participating in the UWI Spec Half Marathon was not just about completing a race; it reflected our core values as a company. It highlighted our commitment to the community.
